About

Simply put, this site will be my main archive of stuff relevant to gaming (or to be more exact, the development of a couple of personal projects of mine), as well as an experimental place for me to practice web design. It’s also set up for webcomics, just in case I feel like doing one. Needless to say, the site layout will change every once in a while.

Those who know me from other art sites: Welcome! For those who don’t know me, however, please allow me to introduce myself: My name is Jose Nieves. I am a student of the University of Advancing Technology (UAT) in Tempe, Arizona, currently studying both game art and design (was studying game programming also, but it’s too stressful to study for two degrees at the same time so I’m learning that by myself). I don’t know any 3D, but I’m quite decent in pixel art (especially when making tilesets). I’m also currently teaching myself traditional animation.

Tools used in my works (for the curious):

Traditional:
11×14 roughly-textured paper (sketchbook)
0.5mm mechanical pencil (2H)
0.3mm mechanical pencil (HB)
eraser

Digital:
Paint Tool Sai
Gimp + Gimp Paint Studio
Colors (DS) (thumbnails / speed painting)
GraphicsGale (pixel art)
OHRRPGCE (pixel art)
Alchemy (brainstorming)

Not often used, but still knowledgeable in:
Adobe Photoshop CS5
Adobe Illustrator CS5
Adobe Flash CS5
Manga Studio EX 4.0
